Using the app
Offline Road Code practice: what works without internet?
In this guide
Prepare before going offline
Install the app and complete sign-in while connected. Open a practice topic and check that your account is ready before relying on it during a commute or in a low-signal area. Study while you are a passenger or safely away from driving. The website's guides are public, but your browser may still need internet to load a page you have not saved.
Know what is included
The app build contains 400 practice questions, 1,417 answer options, 203 images and translations in the eleven supported languages. These learning assets are packaged with installation rather than downloaded individually during practice. This bank is independent study material; it is not claimed to be the complete official NZTA examination bank.
Keep services separate from content
Bundled content does not make an online service work without a connection. New sign-ins and account changes may need Firebase access. Purchases and restoration use Google Play. Rewarded extras depend on an available advertisement completing successfully. A free user who has used the daily mock allowance cannot earn a new ad-funded attempt while offline.
Protect your local progress
Progress, bookmarks, exam history and daily allowances are stored locally for the account on that installation. They do not synchronise between phones. Clearing app storage or uninstalling can remove those records. Signing into another phone is not a progress restore, and reinstalling to solve a problem can have consequences even when your online account still exists.
Check before changing devices
If you are moving phones or switching between a test build and a store build, contact support before uninstalling an installation whose progress you want to keep. Pro is restored by signing in with the same Google Play account, but learning history cannot be recovered after the app data is removed.
